Love for Horror Movies

Hey y'all! This is my last blog post for my healthy horror series!

I hope to continue blogging with a series discussing different music genres.

This week I will be talking about what draws people into watching horror movies. What is it about watching something that leaves you with an uneasy feeling that makes you want to watch it?

Unlike action movies or romantic movies, horror movies don't always have a happy ending or resolution that leaves you with good thoughts.

Horror movies can be addicting because they leave you feeling uneasy. The addiction also comes from watching something that many people don't experience on an everyday basis.

When something is uncommon or unknown, not just horror movies anything in general, it attracts our attention.

This can be traced back to our ancestors and how their daily life was in constant danger. The roles have become somewhat easy, and for this reason the appeal of danger has grown.

There is less is danger in most people's everyday life and this makes it somewhat of a mysterious image. This is also a reason why thriller, crime, and murder movies are popular.

The excitation theory explains that horror movies provide an excitation for the unknown.

Another theory of why we find horror movies addicting is the exploration of the dark side of humanity.

Horror movies touch on how there are things that our out of our control because we don't know enough about them. The darker sides to people are often repressed because of societal standards of what is right and wrong.

That darker side is shown in horror movies through the use of psychological characters to represent fears and insecurities.

The are many types of people that love horror movies. There are groups of people and reasons why those people love them.

  1. People Who Seek Out Sensation:

Studies have found that those who favor sensation seek horror movies to feel certain sensations. Sensation seekers look for novel, risky business, or intense experiences. These people have positive emotions when experiencing intense experiences.

2. People with Lower Empathy:

People with lower levels of empathy are less affected by intense images depicted in horror movies.

3. People Belonging to the Male Sex

Males have a tendency to enjoy horror movies more than females. This can be explained that females tend to have more reactions to intense images than men.

Horror movies have gained a bad reputation because of how they play on psychological ideas. Many people feel that because it plays on ideas that haven't been proven, it's hard to look at seriously.

The future of horror movies lies with those who are open to testing their fears and usually beliefs in the unknown.

The more that people try and see if they enjoy horror movies, the more they will see the thought that is put in them to appeal to all audiences.

Thanks for following my blogging journey this far. I have enjoyed getting to explore my already decided love for horror movies.

I have learned more that explains why I love horror movies and I hope you have too.
